Beginning of Semester
1. How do you envision using art in your classroom?
Creating a classroom community is imperative to ensuring classroom success. Consequently, fostering creativity is a major aspect of creating a sense of community. Art can be used to encourage creativity. Therefore, I will create a creative community based upon integrating art into my classroom. Art will be used as a form of expression, expansion, explanation, and growth.
2. What do you know about integrated learning / integration?
I hope to integrate art into my classroom as often as possible. I think it is imperative to allow children to express themselves through a variety of ways, including through art. Likewise, student learning can be significantly impacted through effective integration in the classroom. Integration is multifaceted and can be a part of virtually every lesson.
3. Rate your comfort level in making art, and discuss.
Uneasy 1 2 3 4 5 Comfortable
I would rate my comfort level in making art as being a 3. I have not had any training in art aside from a few courses I took in high school. However, I have always enjoyed art because I feel as though it is the perfect way for me to express my creativity. I am far from an excellent artist, however I am fairly comfortable with making art because I enjoy the various forms of expressions.
4. Rate your comfort level in analyzing and talking about art, and discuss.
Uneasy 1 2 3 4 5 Comfortable
I would rate my comfort level in analyzing and talking about art as a 2. Although I am confident in making art, I am not knowledgeable about the details of art. In addition, I would not feel comfortable discussing or analyzing art and most likely would have few things to say. This is simply because my art background has been limited to primarily making art.

1. How do you envision using art in your classroom?
I envision incorporating art into my daily classroom routine. Although I may not specifically focus on art, I have learned a great deal about various ways to incorporate art through integration. Because art is at times neglected in comparison to other disciplines such as math, science, and reading, utilizing art through various means of integration is essential in ensuring that students attain the knowledge that can be discovered in the arts.
2. What do you know about integrated learning / integration?
I know that integrated learning is an extremely important practice in ensuring that my classroom produces students that are not only knowledgeable but also well rounded individuals. However, integration requires a great deal of planning by the teacher to ensure that subjects are integrated in an effective and meaningful way. Through this course, I have learned that overarching themes can serve as an ideal avenue to create effective integrated learning practices.
3. Rate your comfort level in making art, and discuss.
Uneasy 1 2 3 4 5 Comfortable
I would rate my comfort level in making art as a 5. I may not produce the most beautiful and perfect art, but I feel comfortable with the attempts that I make. Likewise, I have learned that the "mistakes" made in art simply add character to a piece.
4. Rate your comfort level in analyzing and talking about art, and discuss.
Uneasy 1 2 3 4 5 Comfortable
I would rate my comfort level in analyzing and talking about art as a 4. Similar to my thoughts on making art, I may not always offer a correct analysis of a piece of art, but I feel comfortable when I am able to provide my own reasoning for a piece. Likewise, art is often times subjective and therefore there will not necessarily always be a "correct" explanation to provide.
